(edit title) Best souvenir from Sweden? Your opinion Options

Hello,

as you can see from the title I am looking for a souvenir. I am not looking for some easy and quick solution that anyone can find at a random souvenir store.

What I am looking for is something traditional that cannot be found, in the same way, outside Sweden. For example, this can be applied to food: a certain kind of food that an old shop makes since 1XXX and it does it still in the 'old style'.
That, in your opinion, someone HAS to try it once in his/her life.

I would prefer food but also something else can be nice.
Since it is a gift, this should be something from Sweden that I would also need to explain and describe for it to be understood properly (like the aforementioned food).

Any idea?

A tin of surströmming. Particularly if you don't like the recipient

- Reindeer hide, which you can buy at Arlanda airport. Only problem is they do lose hairs if you use them as a rug.
- Salty liquorice. Your intended recipient will either love or hate them.
- Moose-shaped cheese slice. Also available at Arlanda Sky City along with much else Moose-themed nonsense.
- Old Swedish ceramics or other antique trinkets.

If all else fails, buy a medley of Swedish candies you can find at any grocery store. The yogurt covered strawberries are always a hit! Stick them in a nice bag or box and you're good to go. Other ideas:

Åre Chokladfabrik, those cones filled with chocolates
Tea with Swedish packaging
Racist sounding chocolates for a laugh: Kina, Geisha, Japp
Mexicanos and Americanos, little crackers near the yogurt covered strawberries (usually pre-packaged)

Why "of course" ? Always use www.google.se for things Swedish and for these particular items google the name + "godis". Doh!

Oh, I would look for artwork in the shops in Vallentuna or in the area around Osteråker, especially Sk

argårds Stad. Can find some very nice things, and see some of the nice countryside, Check the Yellow Pages in the Phone Book for maps.

That's, of course, if you can't find anything that Mzungu has on offer.

There is jewelry nicely made in silver or gold crafted using molds of viking pieces excavated in Sweden.

At Götgatan 63, the swedish handycraft association has a store that sells thing made by theire members, can be quite pricey though but non of the pieces are the usual touristy crap. Designtorget at "plattan"/sergelstorg sells contemporary design, to find the Swedish stuff look at the signs by the product.
A Sami knife might be something worth buying, at östermalmshallen or söderhallen you should be able to pick up some authentic deli products, like dried raindeer meat or smoked moose.

- woven table cloths/runner
- art

Food and Sweets
- those big crispbread wheels - knäckebread
- herring/salmon - but depends where you are going
- lingon, Hjörtron or drottning jam - bought some raspberry, chocolate and chilli jam at a craft fair - fab
- biscuits/cookies such as peppakaka/hallonkränsar
- mmmmm Marabou
- you used to be able to get bozes of chocolate mints shaped as Dalahorses
- hand make chocolates with local ingredients
- locally made honey/mustard

Clothing
- T shirts from tourist information
- beware of the moose hats
- torvning products - hand made brushed wool slippers/hats etc

After my last trip I brought back a crystal Viking longship, as a gift. there are a lot of very nice Swedish crystal objects.
