Bank id card?

Valid travel document?

My Swedish id card is issued by the Södra Dalarnas Sparbank, is this a valid travel document to travel in the EU? I ask bacause the swedish ID card on wikipedia looks very different. Thanks.

No, this is not, only the cards issued by the Polis are valid travel documents.

In case you're thinking of getting one, only Swedish citizens can get a National ID card through the police.

The "National ID Cards" are valid as travel documents for that country's nationals only. You can get the ID cards from the police in other countries than Sweden, but theres a directive these days stating the ones granted to non-nationals are a funny color so they are discernable from the nationals' ID cards. If you are from the UK, you are further out of luck, as UK had ID cards for a while and then scrapped the project so any cards out there are not valid. Theres also the "Nordic rules" you only need some sort of picture ID (like the bank ID card) to travel between the countries, but then again its Nordic Citizens only. So if you're from the UK, its passport in the back pocket all the time.
