Hi everyone!

Does anyone know what responsibilities the BRF have for my apartment block regarding ventilation, air quality and humidity level?

The reason i ask is that my son has asthma and reading on the net that a level around 45% humidty is recomended.
I have a hygrometer to keep track of the humidity and it reads 26%. With it being so low this can cause illness and other things such as damage to furniture and floors.

If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated.

Rich.

Well when it's super dry in winter and no moisture in the air, your skin is cracking etc, there is nothing really that the BRF can do.

Use skin moisturizing products as appropriate and get a quality humidifier for your son.

The humidity you report (26%) is very much on the low side for comfort and very much on the dry end for a dwelling. If you had damp and high humidity it might be a ventilation problem you would ask the BRF for help with. But low humidity is outside their control. But its easy for you to solve. Have you got radiators ? In which case hang a cheap humidifier such as http://www.clasohlson.com/se/Luftfuktare-A...ast/Pr365027000 on one or more.

Definitely do not use a cheap humidifier if you have an asthmatic in the family.

Why not ? Try it out for the effect. As long as you keep it mould free, which I agree is vital.

Absolutely. Search luftfuktare and take your choice. But my point was only try the cheap simple one first and test the effect. Only trying to help, honest !

According to the last survey done across Sweden, the average humidity in apartments during winter->summer is between 25-50%, and in the end of summer->autumn going up to 70%.

Guidelines from Socialstyrelsen are that apartments should fall in the range 25-45%

Put on the kettle. Have a cup of tea and humidify at the same time.
