As a newbie in Sweden I felt like a rare species when I got to arbetsfomedlingen for my case!My first visit was in the office where I'm currently living,in Upplands Vasby and I found nothing.
Well, that's the case:As a resident of an EU country I was receiving unemployment benefits from my home country.According to EU regulations if you reside from a country to another(say here in Sweden) you have to have a specific document(named U2) declaring that you offiically leave your country to get to another for job seeking. You have seven days from your arrival to get to the closest branch of Arbetsformedlingen with this paper.
I did this, but they deny me anything in Upplands Vasby, stating that they couldn't do anything without a residence permit.Anyway I was advised and got to Liljeholmen branch where a trully helpful lady filled the necessary documents and she asked me to get to the branch of my address for further
I did it and I was informed that in my case I am to be registered in their system with some kind of a temporary number,in the form of personummer but not exactly the same
My main question to whoever might know:Am I eligible(using this temporary nummer) to register myself in a SFI program of my kommun?I am asking that here because it seems that noone(in Arbetsformedlingen) really knows what applies for my case.My main aim is to learn Swedish and I hope that I will be registered in SFI!

I am not sure what the basis of your move to Sweden is? Do you have residence based on work or a relationship? Or have to just moved here using your EU right to transfer benefits to look for work in another EU country?

SFI is only available to people who have the right of residence in Sweden so you must be
- registered with immigration/Migrationsverket
- registered with the tax office/Skatteverket as living in a particular local authority as your right to SFI is based on the kommun where you live

No,I have moved here as a jobseeker.I just want to clarify(hopefuly Arbeysformedlingen will answer my question) if-by the time I was given a temporary nummer-am eligible for SFI.
I know which is the usual procedure(migrationsverket for residence permit, then Skatteverket for personummer and finally registration for SFI).I was just wondering if there was a possible alternative way to register for SFI using the tempoary registration number from Arbetsformedlingen as a jobseeker from another EU country
We'll see!

No it is not.

You must have a residence permit, and register at Skatteverket since You have to apply for SFI in the Kommun that you are registered as living in.

As a job seeker, without registering with migrationsverket, You are only permitted to stay in Sweden 3 months maximum.

You won`t be able to secure benefits if it`s a seven day limit since it takes more days then seven to get a residence permit. It takes more like six months for a decision;

You should have applied for a residence permit six months or so ago and then when you got it you should have arrived with the specific U2 document in hand.

I have already relocated here some 10 days ago and gone to Arbetsformedlingen with this document, the procedure is done.
Anyway I will be looking for a job, getting a job offer is the solution to avoid any delays wth the permit
Thanks for your replies
