Prawns around the house... between the cushions on the sofa, under the mattress, behind the radiator, at the back of some cupboard somewhere etc and if the curtain poles are hollow metal ones, unscrew the ends and stick some in there too.
Believe me the resulting smell will do her head in! I would borrow or buy a small radiator and stick it on in your bedroom and then open the window wide. The resulting leccy bill when it comes will give her a heart attack and you will be long gone!! Will serve her right for being so mean!! |

BTW OP, if she is going out every weekend to see the boyfriend, stick every light on in the house while she is away too. When you leave take all the fuses with you, she obviously does not need them!! lol What goes around comes around in my opinion.
Life is hard enough without selfish morons like her making life even more difficult when you are just trying to get on in life. |

It's a bit sad to see this thread become a landlord bash spree.
The landlord does not have a voice here and are/is condemned out of hand. Yes landlords look on rentals as a "cash cow" and why not? You buy a property, and see what importance a decent paying tenant means to you...it's the ability to meet mortgage, maintenance, taxes, insurance, etc. payments every month. No landlord wants to have new tenants all the time! They want stable reliable income...believe it or not tenants are really hard to deal with...something is wrong here with the OP. That's my view, I'm a landlord and really not a bad guy! |

That is the reason I do not rent any room in my apartment. I stay and pay by rent alone and use the whole big apartment myself.
Once I give the room they come with friends or create strange problems which I do not know. I cannot control them because they say they are paying rent. It's better I waste the resources by staying alone. Now, I also have gym in the apartment. I don't need to go to SATS. |

Of course there are good landlords and bad landlords - of course as a good landlord your realise that you actually have no legal right to have your mortgage covered under the bruarvärde principle? I think it is mostly unfortunate that some people jump into amateur landlord status without thinking it through - there are quite a few around who want the rental income but don't appear to actually want anyone living in the apartment. It is not so much a problem of andra hand apartment rentals but the multple cases on this site recently involve landlords and lodgers/roommates However there has been a recent spate on this board of exploitative landlords - mostly those who are renting rooms in their apartment to roomates/lodgers - this must be the third or fourth case in the last few months - if you are paying rent there does need to be an agreement for reasonable bathroom/kitchen access - should the landlord live for totally rentfree even though they occupy most of the apartment? - should the landlord make 100% profit on utilities by charging utilities to the tennant at more than double the rate of the actual bills that the landlord is paying for the whole apartment? Been several cases of this Much of the problem stems from amateur landlords who advertise for a lodger/roommate not actually taking the time to draw up a tennancy agreement for inneboende - this would then specify access arrangements, what is included in rent and how bills should be divided - there are several places you can download these for free - rather than just hoping for the best ... |

I have been a landlord where I rented out whole appartments and have had lodgers too, however, I never treated my tenants like this.... taking out fuses so they could not cook a meal!!
There are many bad tenants and many bad landlords but on the whole it is mainly the landlords who exploit their tenants when it comes to lodgers in their homes. They buy properties they can ill afford and are forced to take in a lodger to help pay the bills and especially the mortgage repayments. They need the money but do not actually want someone living in "their home". If you take in a lodger it is no longer just "their home" it is the lodgers too!! There has to be give and take and compromise where you would not normally want it. It is to be expected that their stuff is in "your bathroom", their food in "your fridge" they will cook using "your kitchen" etc. You cannot expect them to be cooped up in one room 24/7. They are human beings with lives, thoughts, feeling and problems of their own. they usually do not want any more hassle than you do but they do want a decent life! When I started being a landlord I set out the rules very carefully and both knew where we stood. I stated from the start what I expected etc and if they did not like it to look elsewhere. eg no loud music after 11pm, if they came home late, respect the fact I would be in bed and be quiet coming coming in that sort of thing. I respected the fact that they would need privacy as well and made sure that I went out a couple of nights a week. It gives both parties time to chill out and relax. It eases any tension. In the past I have also been a tenant and on the receiving end of a dreadful landlord. Wanted his cake and eat it. He demanded that I go out during the day on the weekends and only come back at 6pm!! This was my home that I was PAYING for so why the hell should I? I would only get in at 6am after a Friday night shift and he wanted me out by 10am! How ridiculous was that? He would bring friends home and booze until the early hours, even knowing I had to be up at 5am to go to work. He was a total git and put a lock on the bathroom door and said that I could only use the bathroom at certain times, the same with the kitchen. He just wanted the money as he could not afford to buy his place without a lodger. Most people do this without the lenders consent too. I am in no way a mean person but I will not be treated like a pile of crap. So I got my own back before I left. What goes around comes around. |
