Hej everyone,
Hope you all are in good health. I am working in volvo trucks (Gropegårdsgatan) and looking for one room apartment near my work area. I have heard it takes a long time to get first hand contract, i am also fine with second hand contract, where do i look for second hand contracts? is there any agencies or person who i could talk to directly? Your suggestion will be very helpful. Thank you. |

I wish you luck. Some useful websites are -
http://www.blocket.se/goteborg?q=&cg=3...p;l=0&md=th http://www.andrahand.se/Apartment/retrieve...1%2B&query= http://www.boplats.se/ http://hyralya.se/default.asp http://www.bopunkten.se/ In my experience I got a secondhand place that was advertised on Boplats. It was overpriced but I was in a position where I couldn't be fussy. I suggest that everyone you meet you ask if they know of any apartments. I am now in a firsthand Boplats apartment but I was on the waiting list and applying for upto 10 apartments a day for 20 months. the week I was offered the firsthand contract I was offered 2 other apratments as secondhand, put every feeler out there that you can. Good luck |

I've been accepted to a Master's Degree Programme at the University of Gothenburg and been trying to find a place to stay for me and my boyfriend for the past two months now. I sent over 150 emails to virtually everything that came up on boplats.se, blocket.se, studentlya.nu etc.
So far...let's see...we got a couple of s**thead scammers, trying to cheat us - we grew up in Romania, so we're familiar with all the tricks in the book, so that was borderline funny. Then we got some very confusing, seemingly positive, answers from some nice Swedish landlords, who dragged us along 6 or 7 mail replies only to tell us in the end: "sorry, I don't accept couples", "I'd rather have just one person living here", "I want to rent the apartment now, not in 2 months" or the much more delicate answer "two's a crowd". And then, today, I finally got a viewing offer from boplats, making me squeel in delight and all that. Of course, I wanted to make sure that both the real estate (or whatever it's called) company and the man who owned the place clearly understood that since I live in Romania, there is no possible way to actually view the place. Instead, I got a brilliant reply from some guy at the agency, telling me <<nah nah it's ok, you don't have to see the apartment, you can click on "yes I want this contract" anyway, go ahead. no no, we don't have any photos of it. oh and you have to come here in person to sign the contract, if you'll get it>>. I'm sorry? In the year 2012 I have to book a plane ticket from one week to another, travel +1700 km just to sign a piece of paper? Really? Anyway, complaining aside, I'd be eternally grateful if someone here has an apartment/large room to rent in Gothenburg, starting around August 10-15th. We are non-smokers. I'm 24 and I work as an assistant manager for the Romanian Parliament; my boyfriend is 25 and works as a software developer. Our budget for accomodation is a maximum of 5000 kronor/month. Thanks. |

Can I add a question to this thread? How does gothenburg compare with stockholm in terms of finding somewhere to rent? Stockholm is impossible and many weeks/months of frustration is expected and only luck, rather than money, will get you somewhere. Is gothenburg the same?

I think Gbg is easier than Stkhm for rentals.
I once rented a fully furnished apartment andra hand 72 m2 right in the centre for a little under 10k. It was fresh and modern and lots of light. don't think you could get that in Stkhlm. ? PS: I rented it thru boplats if I remember rightly |

Thats the same place as Botellet run by Bostadsbolaget. They do maybe have bigger flats but its not the best place to live especially the high rise building. Have a chat with Volvo. Years ago apart from Gropegårdsgatan they had proper flats that they rented out. Ill keep my eyes open as i live just down the road from you

Yes i have been to that place, they only say apply on line in Boplats, which i have been doing since october last year. i don't want bigger flat. In Volvo they best they could do was to get me this appartment for couple of month and after that they want me to find it for my self. i have been trying my level best to get even a single room near this area but it did´nt work so far. I would be great if you find any thing then please do let me know.

We are moving out of our apartment in Göteborg on May 31st. I do not know if they managed to rent it to someone else yet. This weekend I will take down the name of the company renting it out and maybe you can try to call them.
Our apartment is not in a very nice area, though... It is in a high building in Kortedala. ps: I thought about it, the owner of the building is Bostadsbolaget. |

@ Thanks MissKD but the appartment will only be avaliable from Boplats so they can´t no one can do any thing now for that. Usally before telling the landlord if it´s compnay like Bostadsbolaget, if you could make a contract with new person then they are stuck, else they put it in Boplats and there is no way to get that easily. I am looking for some thing in Hisigen area near to my work place. Only CBgbg would be correct person as he already live here.

You can always try to call them. When I got here the suggestion that my colleagues gave me is to call the companies renting out, instead of applying online or sending emails. Being pushy works, and sometimes if they just got an available apartment they can show it to you without waiting for the list of interested people. My friend´s sister did this two times in Malmö and it worked
