Things to help the learning process.

Noteworthy Swedish-English, or just Swedish media.

Hi! I just got started learning Swedish, and listening to the language will most certainly help me learn it. If you do not mind, could any of you tell me some nice artist, books and movies/shows in Swedish that are worth looking into? And sites/programs/books that teach the tongue exceptionally. As far as music goes, I am very open to most genres, but I cannot get into things that are to heavy. thank you for your time.

Reading childrens books is a good way to learn the language but also get some insight to the culture and experience the stories that Swedes grew up with. The number one childs author in Sweden is/was Astrid Lindgren;

Two good artists or singers are Helena Sjöholm, who is arguably Swedens best singer, and ballad singer Lars Winnerbäck;

When it comes to movies there is a great movie called Låt den rätta komma in, Let the right one in, from 2008;

A good TV show is Solsidan which is a comedy with three of the most well known comedians in Sweden;

This is one of Sweden's most popular and traditional books concerning food.
It contains many recipes and is written in simple Swedish.

I found it very helpful to subscribe (prenumera) to Sesam the immigrant newspaper that covered news in easy Swedish and included vocab lists and grammar exercises etc

Personally I didn't find kids books useful at all as they often contain confusing slang expressions - however you can sometimes get books in simplified Swedish through the library

I've fallen in love with Laleh, her voice is so lovely, it's somehow encouraging me to hurry up and learn the language so I can sing along~

Hej!

Have you tried 8 sidor - 8 sidor
or the radio programme Klartext - Klartext
They are written and read in a slightly simpler Swedish.

I also encourage students to explore Swedish music and sing along - here is a playlist that I have pulled together on Spotify: Swedish playlist on Spotify

Lycka till!
