A while back two of the universities that I have applied to stated that I was ineligible for two of the courses that I had applied to due the basic requirements(such as having a bachelors degree in the right field)NOT being met.
This is puzzling as my qualifications are WAY more than the basic requirements for those courses. Iv been accepted by a university in another country with the same entrance requirements. However when I logged onto studera a few days later the status of my application for the first university had gone back to "Application in progress" - which of course is a heck of a lot better than "requirements not met". The status of the application to the second university however still shows "requirements not met". Could it be just a hiccup in the system? has anybody else experienced something of this sort with their application? |

It is very difficult to answer your query without knowing the details of the course that you are applying to and what qualifications you have. However common reasons for requirements no met are:
- lack of a bachelor dissertation - often Swedish universities require evidence that a student will be able to produce a masters dissertation - lack of a specilism required for the course - for example many UK/US Masters degree will accept anyone with any bachelor degree - whereas in Sweden it may be that a certain specilism is needed or a bachelor degree within a certain type of subject range - for some reason your degree cannot be verified - some countries have different types of bachelors degrees and not all are accepted - I've heard of problems with the Phillipines If none of these appear to apply to you I suggest that you query the result just in case some of your paperwork has gone astray |

Studera has posted a notice of its system "glitch". It was supposed to be fixed by March 10. Since then, some applicants still received "strange" messages about their status. You should contact the universities directly for clearer answer. A very good facebook link in this matter. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/st...den/31300055244 We have been discussing like crazy everyday on this forum. Your problem is not unique. Good luck! |

Puffin, Thanks for the info. My application was kinda made on a knife edge and so I was unable to enclose my bachelors dissertation with the other documents. Long story. HOWEVER I did get letters from my university and the company I did my internship at stating that my dissertation was up to the mark in all respects with some basic information about the work I had done. A flimsy subsitute for the whole dissertation but it was the best I could do. None of the other reasons listed by yourself should hold good for me. I have applied for a masters degree in mechanical engineering BTW. It seems that this kind of thing happens pretty often at studera. to your knowledge when will the universities announce their final lists? I mean before may 7th. |

This all depends on how the University does its applications - some choose among applicant based on calucating grade averages etc - however there are others that receive so many good quality applicant that they use the BA dissertations as a tie breaker - I know one University department that sets up a working party to read the dissertations of the best students. If your University is one of those that assesses the relative quality of dissertations - it may mean that you are automatically excluded from the final selection process if you don't submit one - however I'm not saying that this is the case. You could always contact the department directly and ask what effect the absence of a dissertation will have on your application and when they will be making the final decision - it may not be for another month when they have seen how many Swedish applicants there are. A couple of other points - can you not obtain a copy of your Bachelor dissertation from the University where you were examined? - usually these things are archived for a number of years - the Universities also find studera very frustrating! |

Well I mailed the university in question and they got back to me in a day stating that my application had not been evaluated yet. They further stated that setting the status of an application to "requirements not met" is standard procedure. Their selections will be done by mid april.

All right then, so I checked my application today and guess what?? the university which had initially said that I was unqualified has updated my status to "PG" with a rating of 999. Now I hear that the ratings are more or less redundant but PG means place guaranteed so thats a good thing. So I guess my not sending in a dissertation did not matter after all.
One more thing - PG does mean 'accepted' right? |
