Do I have to file a Swedish tax return?

Hi there:

I am not Swedish, but work for a Swedish company and live abroad. (I have never lived in Sweden nor visited for more than 2 weeks at a time.) The company I work for deducts taxes for the few weeks a year I'm in Sweden and I pay taxes on the rest of my Swedish income in my home country. My question is, am I obliged to file a Swedish tax return? If not, can you point me in the direction of official documentation that I can show to the tax authorities in my home country as proof?

Thanks in advance.

Check with Your employer if when You are in Sweden they applied to the Tax Office for permission to tax You according to SINK.

If that is so, then You are taxed at a special rate, normally 25%, but not allowed to make any other deductions.

The benefit for You is that according to SINK rules, You do NOT need to do a Swedish tax declaration. smile.gif

The document that describes SINK is here:

it is in Swedish and English. You need to ask Your employer if this is what they do, if they do not, and I remember correctly You can actually request it Yourself from Skatteverket. wink.gif
