Yeah, and in comparison to the U.S, how can you describe your new place in Sweden (job, housing, peoples)? Better? Worst? Especially, with your "and our one way tickets" (assuming you don't want to come back to the U.S)?
You should bring more details here as other people want to know this potentially useful piece of information. |

I used bostaddirekt.com to find housing. It cost 100USD but it was worth it. I am subleasing a furnished place for only a couple months and hope to find something for a longer period of time once I'm over there. My SO got a job offer from an international school to teach English and I got a freelance job (not in my field of work). se.indeed.com is the most helpful job board I have come across but I don't really recommend using job boards because of the amount of time they are advertised to Swedes and EU citizens. indeed is really especially great if you're looking for English/American companies. My SO and I both got our jobs by applying directly to the company but the job boards gave us ideas. Make sure you have looked at the differences Swedish CVs vs American resumes. There shouldn't be bragging when applying to Swedish jobs. You should be able to backup your strengths through projects or things you've done.
I wont be there until the 16th of July but the housing is a 2 bedroom apartment in Solna for 1500 USD a month. Not sure what else to add but if anyone has any specific questions I will be happy to answer. |

You answered most of the questions. Last one, you know which industry is there a demand for (for foreigners especially that may want to live in Sweden). I'm just curious.

I did it in two months, so it's most definitely possible. One of the saddest things was that it was cheaper for me to book a round trip ticket instead of one way, though..

That is amazing. Do you speak Swedish? I have to laugh because when I moved here in the fall I also purchased a round trip ticket as it was about one third of the price of a one way ticket. Strange, isn't it???

I know preschool teachers are in demand as well as all kinds of nurses and there is generally a high demand for IT professionals. There is a website that lists all the professions Sweden is looking for. It might be found on the arbetsformedlingen website, but I'm not sure.
Strangely enough I was learning Swedish before I knew I wanted to move there. It was just a hobby so I have a pretty good head start on that but plan on signing up with SFI as soon as I can. I have duel citizenship in an EU country so I should be able to get permanent residence when I actually get there. Congratulations to the people that have made it work! My one way ticket was cheaper than round trip but only by a couple hundred dollars. I am not looking forward to the commute between the US and Sweden for holidays and things. |

Välkommen till Sverige! I moved here 8 months ago from New Hampshire and I'm loving it. I would offer you a suggestion that you start looking for a more permanent place as soon as you get here because it can be very, very difficult to get an apartment here.
