Hi guys,

Just moved over with the wife and little one and we're moving tomorrow and were wondering if there were a day care centre anyone knew of on Sodermalm that would take the little one for the day whilst we move?
I can understand if it's too short notice!

Thanks,
Sam

Generally speaking, daycare is something you sign up for ages in advance and in most places, are placed on a long waiting list. That said, nothing stopping you from calling any of the local ones and asking about it. smile.gif

Good luck!

There is no "drop in" daycare in Sweden - daycare is fulla/part time and gives priority to those working or studying so generally you need to apply 3-12 MONTHs in advance and pay for a month minimum - I cannot see any reputable daycare exceeding their child limits to take a child they have never met, whose parents have not applied and who will have no "inskolning"

A pity that you are late looking as you mights well have found a student who was available for a day's work and would take your child out - you could try the noticeboard but it is a risk

Or you could call companies such as Maid In Sweden who provide babysitters (at a price)

However - are you really happy about handing your child over to someone they don't know and that you have never met before? Do you not have any friends/relatives that might help out

I was thinking the same thing.
How old is the child?

It could be worth offsetting the mothers role in helping to move, with that of another person such as a removal company.
There are some companies in Stockholm that offer hired "Extra hands".
Maybe that would be better (rather than a baby sitter) ... ?
