Hi Mandy,
I am also an architect thinking of moving to Sweden. I've been trawling through references to 'architects' and 'Sweden' looking for any information I could find. I know it was a few years ago but how did you get on? Have you any advice for me. I am Irish with sixteen years extensive post graduate experience. Regards, Brendan. |

hi,
I am an architect and have been living in Sweden for nearly 6 years. When I arrived here I couldn't speak the language, but was able to find work anyway. It wasn't easy, and you have to work hard at it, and always keep in mind that you will eventually need to learn Swedish. I think I was very lucky to find work speaking only English. I think it will be a matter of luck for most! I learned Swedish in 6months (of course it was very basic then), the most important for me was to show that I was willing to learn and speak! This is the website for the Architect's association in Sweden. The link will direct you to the jobs ads open just now: http://www.arkitekt.se/platsannonser/aktuella I can't see anything specifying English speaking architects. But you can try H&M, they are looking for people to design their stores. If you have experience in retail architecture this might be a good chance for you. Good luck! |
