I'm sure that you have always been very good at orals Trowbridge. As for your supposed (and possibly fabricated) qualification, you have already stated in your first post that you knew very little about the subject. So which is the true statement of the two? Qualified to teach or knowing very little? I know what my money's on!

Of course it matters Trow! One does not become a Professor simply because a publisher makes an assumption. The chair of Professor is a highly respected position within an academic institution and which is gained only by a combination of aptitude and, perhaps most of all, hard work. It cannot simply be usurped by any old Tom, Dick or Trowbridge who has a book of dubious veracity to sell. Furthermore, is this not yet another case of you fraudulently misrepresenting yourself in order to profit by selling books? Anyone with a grain of integrity would have have the incorrect information removed as its nature would detract from the credibility of the book. Once again and by your own admission, your lack of honesty undermines the reliability of your publication.

I had nothing to do with my title on the title page of my biography of Dicey.

It was put there by mistake by the editor, a fellow named Barnaby Rogerson, and it could hardly be changed after the books had been published. When I learned about it, I said nothing about it to his boss, Barry Rose, so as not to get him into any trouble.

You inflate the position incredibly, as if all these old time servers who make it really are special. They are generally just survivors - what really drove me to leave academe.
