After several years reading these boards the start of the move to Sweden is almost upon us. We've just bought the land and have started to plan the house we want to build. Looking to build c.250 sq/m family house.

I am looking for reputable housebuilders in the Malmo / Vellinge / Trelleborg area so any tips / comments about good (or bad) experiences much appreciated.

We have gotten in touch with Sävsjö Trähus and Karlsson Hus and are looking for something at the lower end of the cost spectrum to compare them with.

I renovated a house between 1998 and 2000 and decided to move here in 2004. In 2009 I bought a plot and built a house near Örkelljunga.

My research of builders was based on three different styles of construction and I concluded that, in the field of factory made houses, Åsbo Hus, www.asbohus.se was the best for my money.

I opted for a turnkey project giving them total responsibility - the biggest problem building a house are the grey areas. Make sure you get all the specifications on paper and you should be OK - when all the grey is on one pair of shoulders it is safer.

Try Fiskarhedenvillan as well they can quote you for either a timber frame or a stenhus which is just as common down here.

Haaks stenhus is another company to check on in this area.
