Hi.
I am learning to drive, taking driving classes. Doing the theory by myself simply cz I am smart and I know a lot about cars and driving. But here is the problem. I tried to find theory test in english, but apparently even my driving school doesn't have CD with english version. NOW, I wanted to know, is there a version of theory test in english so I can practice? I also heard that the translation is very bad and people simply fail cz of it. Thanks for the help in advance. P.S. I dont know swedish well enough for taking the exam in swedish. |

The theory books exist in English and so do the theory practice tests (I did it)
However, you are right - I found the translations to have been very bad and in hindsight should have done the tests in Swedish. However the types of questions are very similar to the real test so you should be fine ( I did it first time with an almost perfect score) However I used the online theory tests through the driving school, I think these are offered by STR and can be done in English, ask your school about them or try another school. |

I have the book in english, but the CD is in swedish, and my school told me that they have english one only in their computers. I would even buy the CD if I knew where to look.

But why don't you buy it then, they are usually online and you can do the tests from home, or wherever you are as long as you have an internet connection. |

The questions during the theory test (and I took it in English) are pretty straight forward. They are hard to misinterpret if you've done your homework and understand the subject to a sufficient level.

Hej Tiko,
My suggestion is go to your local library you can check out books and CD. The CD has a language chose. Also, as Axiom suggested the wording of the questions on the actual exam are pretty bad. Get acquainted with the strange wording on the practice test questions first then go an take the real exam. That is my two cents. By the way, I took the exam first time cold turkey and failed by one point. Then studied for a couple of days with the exam questions and passed by one. good luck |

I am not sure how your driving school works, but it is the driving school that offers the practice test online. All driving schools in Sweden use the same system. They will tell you the website address after you sign up with them as well as give you username and password and you just go home, log on and practice away. Some schools offer unlimited practice tests for a fixed cost, some are less flexible. |

I think from memory I might have paid about 200 kr to the local driving school for unlimited access to the STR practice test programme. Certainly no more than that. It was limited to 20 sessions, but when I contacted the school again they simply unlocked 20 more at no extra cost. I found the STR to follow the official test quite well, possibly even more difficult than what the actual test was.

I actually just passed my theory yesterday and I did what Joey101 suggested, went to the local library. They had a computer program on cd you can loan out. It had a few hundred example test questions (in english or swedish) which are very similar to what you find in the real test. I ran through it over two days and then went in and passed with flying colours. I think it was called "Teo" but I'm sure your librarian can help you to find it. Best of luck!

My mother in law bought me the TEO cd. It was quite good, from memory. Well structured and covered pretty much everything. A good buy.
