I have been contemplating moving to Sweden. I have a science degree. My intention though is to go into IT.

I would like to study IT in Sweden and then branch from there. I want to study Visual Basic. I am a native English speaker (British Citizen)

Also are jobs hard to get as a native English speaker?

Any suggestions?

2 things...

1) Specific to Sweden: you'll struggle to get a job with neither relevant work experience nor Swedish language skills. Experience can supercede the language thing in IT, but you do need the experience from what I've seen.

2) Why specifically VB? Just a quick search on monster.se shows 28 vacancies for VB in Sweden, yet 128 for C# (off the top of my head as an example). It wouldn't be my first choice if I were thinking of specialising in a language right now.

A science degree, depending what it is, you could get work tomorrow or never!? Sweden is desperate for science teachers to start with. But also engineers in some fields.

I would suggest that you learn C# as your primary language if you're are going down the MS route. Not that VB.NET is not worth knowing, but it's not as thought after as a main skill by employers. It's also worth considering what technology you want to specialize in. ASP.NET, Winforms, WPF etc.
