Is having fake photos that have been made in 3D on a computer a lie to consumers?
And what is the environmental impact on so many catalogs being produced that is often compared to a bible (double the annual print run of the bible) but only has a value spanning less than a single year? http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000087239...StoryCollection #NotJudgingJustVeryInteresting |

Even if 12% of the images are digitally created, those products are 100% real. Which is more than can be said for yours and the articles comparisons, the bible. The worlds best selling fiction for centuries!

This is neither new nor limited to furniture. For example, technology companies have used 3D models to market their products since the dawn of... 3D modelling software.
Anyway, I hope that the carpenters realise they are digging their own graves by teaching the photographers and designers what rugged/old/used furniture needs to look like. Once that knowledge is transferred they are bound to be out of a job there unless they develop some new skills. |

The IKEA catalogue is infinitely more useful than the Bible (although bible paper may be more useful if you find ourself out of toilet paper on a Sunday evening). I'm fine with computer generated images in the catalogue (and I assume website), who buys furniture without actually going to look at it anyway?

^When companies make a turkey for advertisement, they put it in the dishwasher before they actually take the picture. It's frankly nasty, IMO.
EDIT: Cooked turkey, not living. On another note, being an American, I found great amusement in this thread. I know Sweden for their fashion and IKEA. |
