Hi, I have just bought a large house in Sweden and would like to find out how I can get a sauna installed in the home and hot tub. Is it something I could install myself?
Any info on companies or shops/websites that can sell or install these would be great, also I want to get an idea of prices. Thanks in advance! |

You will need a qualified plumber and electrician to install a sauna/hottub - otherwise you may find that you have invalidated your home insurance - why not ask work colleagues/neighbours for tips on local companies that do this work
Although I think you mat be able to install one of those wood-fired hottubs in the garden yourself depending on how you are going to fill it |

There are small saunas as building kits at for example Fredells.se, in my experience, most saunas are overdimensioned in Sweden.

I had a sauna in my last house and used it twice, takes a long time and is expensive to heat up for a 20 stint. I found that it was quicker and cheaper to pop up the road to the gym and use the one there. A friend of mine built one in his house 25 years ago and for the past 24 years it has been used as an airing cupboard and cat toilet

I, on the other hand, built a free-standing wood fired sauna out in my backyard and use is often in the winter. A friend of mine put in an infra-red sauna in his basement and uses it daily. He says has not noticed a difference in his electric bill. His sauna came as a modular unit that just bolts together and plugs into an electrical socket. Easy fot a do-it-yourselfer.

My sister has an infra red sauna (in Australia!?!?!) and she highly recommends it.

Do you all run out and roll in the snow But wood burning sounds like the way to go as it saves a lot of professional costs - as long as you don't build something huge that requires planning permission |

Hot tub ? ? ?
After a sauna you jump into a cold tub, and the colder the better. Softies obviously. |

Hot tub ? ? ?. After a sauna you jump into a cold tub, and the colder the better.. Softies obviously. Not a cold tub, try rolling in the snow at -45C which is what I did in Yakutsk in Siberia. The liberal supply of vodka supplied by our Russian hosts helped lessen the shock |

^ Mmm,and took a great deal of work from the masseur to coax the lump behind each ear, to their rightful place in the anatomy...
