Howdy,
Anyone still know if that route is still open to take private passengers +car? I know they run the route for trucks and cargo and had heard in the past that they take passengers... cannot find any reference to it in Google or their website however.. http://freight.dfdsseaways.com/DFDS_ferries/ |

Yes it still operates. I friend of mine did the trip last week. They won't accept bookings that include children under 5 though (last time I checked).
http://freight.dfdsseaways.com/DFDS_ferrie...ingham_ferries/ Passengers on freight vessels Enquiries for passenger transport on this route should be addressed to Gothenburg (Tel: +46 31 65 08 67 , Monday - Friday 10:00-11:00 / Email: paxbookings.got@dfds.com ) or Immingham (Tel: +44 14 69 55 26 16 Email: ukpax@dfds.com ). http://freight.dfdsseaways.com/DFDS_ferrie...information.pdf |

...come to think of it he was driving a small truck though. But I do think you can take your own car and passangers.

Yes they used to accept kids before. But they must have chaged the rules in the past few years. Which forces me to use the Esbjerg-Harwich route. Long boring drive to Esbjerg....

I think there are implications for children under 5 - such as needing to have changing facilities plus safety as there are probably no life jackets for them either

They have a max of 12 passengers and they cannot guarantee bookings. The most they can guarantee are 2 passengers at a time and the rest go on stand-by. Priority is given to cargo trucks.
It is what it is... Long drive to Denmark for me! May be cheaper just to fly with Ryanair and rent a car there. Either that or make a road-trip out of it for the kids, i.e. stop off at several places on route and take our time... |
