Hi there,

I am a resident in sweden, and want to go and see the doctor. I actually want to get.... an STD test!! argghhhh.

Anyway, how do I go about seeing a doctor here.

I know this is going to sound really strange, but I have heard for the test they stick something down your peehole, and I honestly don't think I can handle that. Is this the method they use in sweden? I faint just thinking about it. Please I am honestly not a troll, even if this sounds like it.

Thanks

You get the number of vårdcentralen in your kommun and call them. I do not believe the procedure is as you described but more likely a blood test. I had tubes and machines as big around as your finger shoved down my "pee hole¨so stop whining and see a doctor.

Most things are detected by a simple urin test or blood test nowadays. The q-tip down the pee hole is history.

you undoubtedly wont have anything shoved down that particular orifice - they'll do a blood test I imagine.

Its definitely not only a blood test.

A friend of mine recently had the test in teh UK and he had to have a q-tip shoved down this orifice. This is why im so afraid. yes im a coward!

There are plenty of STD's and they all have different testing methods.
Chlamydia and gonorrhea are tested by urine samples while HIV, syphilis and hepatitis need blood samples.

You friend probably had a chlamydia test since that is the most common disease. However, nowadays it only requires a urine sample, especially for men. Your friend was tested using the old method.

Seriously, how old are you? I suggest you stop acting like a wimp and go to the doctor.

Really sorry if I alarmed you. My comment did not refer to a SIDs test but I was trying to point out that a test is absolutely nothing and you should not worry at all about little things like a SIDs test. It will be painless and most likely a very simple blood test. I was just trying to point out how insignificant a test is in the grand scheme of things. The test is NOTHING to worry about.

Even if they do stick something where its not welcome it doesn´t hurt. Ive had 2 catheter at the same time when i had a bladder test. Nervous, yes, a crybaby, yes, but it´s was a piece of cake

I've had an STD check in Stockholm - a requirement, it seems, if you start copulating with a doctor smile.gif

It's easy. You can normally find a clinic linked to a hospital e.g. Danderyd Sjukhus (see link). There's a drop-in time on Thursday. You go in, speak to the nurse at the desk, wait in the waiting room, get called, speak to another nurse in a private room, go off and pee in a cup, and if you want to, have a blood test - to check for HIV.

All in all it takes about 20 minutes. No probing front or back and no polite reach-around. Painless, quick and an opportunity to take as many free condoms as you can stuff into your pockets.

The best bit is that they give you a phone number to contact them in one weeks time. The phone rings, they answer, you give them your name and personal number and they give you the results. Not sure what happens if you do have crotch-rot, so from then on you're on your own.

Danderyds Sjukhus

p.s. You're not Dave Smith's wife are you?
