Hi,

I need to contact a psychologist for therapy, preferably in the centre of Stockholm or Vasastan. Anyone can recommend one?

Thanks!

Have you tried going through your GP - he can probable tell you which psycholigsts are affilated to the state scheme so that you can get therapy free after a few visits

Are you looking for a particular type of therapy?

Doe you speak Swedish or are you looking for English therapy?

I have heard this American psychotherapist recommended on other boards - based in Kungsholmen & Södermalm on different weekdays - but have no direct experience

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I'm not interested in any particular type of therapy, I'm just not feeling OK and I think I need professional advice, the same as when on goes to the doctor.

What is GP? I didn't know it could be for free... what do you mean after a few visits? Maybe one must pay the first ones only?

Thanks again

The GP is a family doctor - a distriktsläkare and vårdcentralen (health centre) they can refer you to a psychologist or counsellor

If you are registered in for healthcare in Sweden then you pay a maximum for medical appointments of 900 kronor in any 12 months for doctors, nurses, psychologists, physios etc affiliated to the Swedish scheme - therefore if you need a course of treatment or therapy you are issued with a free card once you it 900 kr. It only relates to those professionals that have an agreement with the health authority - however there should be quite a few options in Stockholm
