I am living in Gothenburg and it's a problem when I need to type Swedish
I don't like the Swedish keyboard cuz the position are getting me crazy Is there any input method that I can type Latin alphabet with diacritical mark using key combinations? Just make sure it doesn't ruin the position of the punctuation marks thanks |

I'm not sure I understand. You don't like the physical keyboard or the Windows/Mac/Linux layout that you get if you select Swedish as input method? Because the latter can't be that bad. I mean you just "ALT+SHIFT" and then you get the letters, write what's needed and then go back the same way.
You get used to the ; ' [ being ö å ä on an international us keyboard. Anyway, to answer your question: You need to press LEFT ALT + combination of numbers dialed in from the right numpad (and not the numbers below the F-keys) Here are the key combinations: LEFT ALT + 0246 is ö LEFT ALT + 0228 is ä and LEFT ALT + 0229 is å You can of course find a whole list of combinations here: http://www.irongeek.com/alt-numpad-ascii-k...-and-chart.html Have fun! |

I know what you mean. If you have a mac its pretty easy:
option a = å option u + o = ö option u + å = ä or you can easy change the mapping of your keyboard to a swedish one by clicking the flag icon. |

the main problem is not about the ö ä å
but other punctuation marks so basically most of them are not in the same position as the US keyboard the Mac way is good but I m using windows is there any program that I can customize key combination? P.S. if I use Swedish keyboard with an US hardware keyboard, where does the AltGr go? |

Sounds rather as if you want to make things even more difficult for yourself by wanting a combination of keyboards.
Why not work on the principle of 'when in Rome'. that way - by using the Swedish keyboard, everything is there visible for you, without the need for key combinations to achieve the natural Swedish characters. I know there are those geeks on here who swear that using the different combinations is easy, but instead of using one key, they then need to both remember the combination and hit several more keys. Not exactly time saving in my opinion, nor 'smidig'. Why trust in memory when you can have it all there in front of you?? But then I am only an oldie, and believe in making life easy for myself. |

Most laptops have a numeric keypad on top of the ordinary keys that can be accessed by using the Fn key or similar.

I did not express it well. I do not mean the top row digits, but an alternative mode for some of the keys, often shown in blue next to:
