Hi, I'm moving at the end of September of this year as my Swedish Girlfriend and I are having our first child. I need to move approx. One bedroom's worth of stuff. No furniture, but some speakers, records, a bike and a snowboard, clothes, shoes and a few kitchen things. All of life's essentials.

When I moved house last time it all fitted in to a
van like this

Can anyone tell me of a decent priced company as the quotes I'm getting are massive!

Thanks very much,

Martin

Can't help you with recommendations on company's I have used but I do have a suggestion.

Have you thought about one way hire from Hertz, Avis, Europcar and the like?

Another option could be... Back home (Aus) it is very cheap to rent a backpacker vehicle which has been hired by someone else to a particular destination and they want it back. You could fit all your stuff in one of them. Again, not sure how relevant but ideas smile.gif

Ha! fat chance, good luck finding a rental company who are happy for you to leave a right hand drive car in a country as far away as Sweden! I looked into this and the i could only find places willing to do one way to France.

Unfortunately I don't have any recommendations for removal companies however I DO recommend renting a van, figure out a route (there's a few depending on how much driving you're prepared to do or how much you're willing to spend on ferry combinations) and driving over.. then drive back to return the van.

When I did it from Reading to GBG (basically the same) I went to Calais with Sea France then drove all the way from there (using the bridges in Denmark). I took a friend with me and on the way back we took a few days holiday. In all it took a week (including the mini holiday) and about £1600 (again, including holiday). It can be done much quicker and it can be done cheaper. If you choose to do it this way, try as many van hire places as you can find, independent places tend to be cheaper, make sure they know you're going abroad and get unlimited mileage, the route I took, round trip was approx 2000 miles.

Did mention it on another thread about light/small loads this is the only company I could find willing to take small loads www.express-nordic.com. They look to be a good option if your stuff is a bit bigger than the normal parcel couriers can carry but a bit smaller to warrant actual removal companies (and they're prices).

I had probably about the same amount of stuff when I moved here and used Movecorp
They vacuum packed everything onto one palette and it took about 2 weeks for my stuff to arrive.

Hej! Movecorp are the best, cheap and good. Good reviews from customers. Try to google it. I think they ars the best, I used them from uk to Sweden, no problem at all. Ask for a part load door to door removal quote. Yesterday, someone posted the same question, please look. Hope it's help. Good luck.

Hello.
I have not booked anything yet but got a reasonable quote from MoveCorp for my small -ish clutch of items.
Like you, I have very little to transport across.
Where in Sweden are you moving your stuff to?
I am not far from Reading and going around the Goteborg area.
I have heard about people sharing transportation arrangements and splitting the cost.
Not sure if that is anything you would be interested in.
I plan to head off on the 29th September.

You can try getting a quote from http://www.shiply.com/ I've used it when moving from Gothenburg to UK. Got quotes around £150-200 for about 10 boxes of stuff.
