Regardless of what you mean, actually, that is definitely enough to survive. That is 25,000 SEK/month before tax (approx. 19,597 kr after). It's not a massive salary, but many people live off of it and it's not poverty level, either

As for rent, check out blocket.se, it will give you a decent idea. Do not expect to live in the city centre, but otherwise you should be able to find something.

That's easily enough to live off, you now just have the massive issue of finding accommodation - which is really tough. Post an ad on blocket.se, make sure you include a photo of yourself in a presentable manner and get the text translated into Swedish.

If all else fails, couchsurf or hostel it for the first few weeks there and post flyers everywhere like a crazy person.

Also, how did you get the job offer if you don't mind me asking?

I applied for the job and got a call back and two skype interviews and then an email telling me to be there by August.

Good luck, and best wishes on your move. Be proactive and get your employer cracking on your visa. Is this a large company used to dealing with foreign workers? I am from the U.S. and once was offered a job and applied for work visa like you on a short time window. I received my passport back and visa decision the day before my departure. Rejected as employer was unfamiliar with all the visa requirements

You can add to that a tightly regulated housing market like nowhere else in europe - maybe the western world

People are on waiting lists for rental apartments for up to 20 years and other terrifying facts for someone moving to Sweden and in particular Stockholm. I suggest you do a search on this forum as the topic has been covered in much detail.

No it's not like any other major city that is awash in rental apartments courtesy of investors who buy to rent. That kind of thing does not jibe with welfare state political philosphy altho things are changing - not in time for you to easily find something however

I make about $25 USD an hour at my job and that's considered a "shit salary". Just FYI.
Stockholm is like one of the top 5 most expensive cities in the world.

Sweden is special and most special is Stockholm, you can't just come here and think you can rent something, there are hundreds of other people wanting the same thing here.

Sweden is a extreme socialist country and you need to follow special rules to be accepted.

I don't understand, what are newcomers supposed to do? sleep on the streets? because i can't afford hotels, not on those prices. I'm a EU citizen with a qualified job, I shouldn't have to face that many barriers to get settled! my employer won't help me either, that's pretty f'ed up, I thought Sweden was supposed to be a bureaucracy free country
