If it really is difficult to find baskets when going into a supermarket, one logic is that so many people are already shopping there that it must be the place to shop.
As for the ‘fruit and veg’ – some oranges and bananas at my local supermarket are so mouldy they could walk home on their own. I don't think many people complain in store but when you do, store staff generally do something about it pretty quickly |

There's always way too many baskets in my local Hemköp. My only gripe with them is that they do a lot of in-store promotions and / or do a lot of coupon promotions and for whatever reason, they won't just programme their registers to understand the promotions and coupons. Instead, you hand over the coupon, the staff member then goes through their own little box with different coupons and scans that one or types in some code. Slows things down so much.

I shop at T-centralen Hemkop almost everyday and never had such a problem. The lines are sometimes long but I usually shop there during lunch hour when it is packed. But I am used to queue from the Czech Republic, where the stores are usually under staff, so I learnt to be patient

There were no baskets yesterday at Willy's. Lots of customers, and stacks of them at checkout.
It wasn't the end of my day. |

We seem to have an overabundance of baskets in my local ICA. I would posit that perhaps the staff there are kleptomaniacs with a basket fetish and steal all the baskets from the Stockholm area. I will confront them next time I am there.

Never seen anything like that in my life.
Tell them about this, I am sure they will improve. |

Our local ICA Maxi always has one member of staff collecting baskets from the checkouts and moving them back at the entrance as well as putting self scanning scanners back and unwanted purchases. Only if there are long lines at the checkouts is he/she moved to a checkout. As ICA stores are a franchise, you can not expect the same service everywhere, but at least I am happy |

Our local ICA Quantum is actually a very pleasant place to while away an evening shopping. Well organised, clean, good selection of seasonal fruit and veg and rarely long queues. Oh and crap loads of baskets. |

You live in the countryside, no wonder the queues are short.

.. not just the countryside... the 'sticks'. I cannot and will not ever live in a city or town.Too many opportunities for people to talk at me. At least here on TL I have an ignore button, doesn't work so well on the street.

LOL! That explains the abundance of baskets.
You can ignore people on the street too. In fact, many Swedes do just that, which annoys me a lot. You ask them a question and they just pass by as if they didn't hear you. Not all of Swedes of course, but enough to affect your quality of life. |

You probably came during peak hours. I had this problem too sometimes. Well, it is not really a big deal. Just go to the checkout counter and grab one. Problem solved.

Get a scanner and take your own bag. Saves a lot of time and you know exactly what you have spent . No waiting at checkouts and less stress
