Where to watch. Getting a crowd together.

The time is nearly upon us. Two years have passed since a miserable South Africa and now its time for optimists and pessimists to gather and see England underperform at another major tournament.

This Monday England play the French. Always a bitter encounter it would be best seen at some kind of watering hole near the inner parts of town. Sharing misfortune and poor football this summer can be more fun with beer and banter.

What I suggest:

Gården. 1 hour before kick off. Wear the three lions.

For those of you that don't know Gården is a big bar with outdoor seating in a square just off vasagatan, opposite the clarion sign hotel. Apparently there is a massive screen and fan zone there.

Who's in?

I might well be.

Option B... I hear Debaser Medis have a huge screen and free entry for all games.

Could be even worse, never seen them so devoid of talent as this time.
The forwards couldn't kick their way out of a paper bag, the defence has more holes than a sieve and the mid-field is just there to make the numbers up.
Hopefully the keeper will be a hero and keep the score down to single figures.
First game could be downright embarrassing, I've bet on France to win 4-0 !!!
Love to be proven wrong of course, but I fear and expect the worst.

As I said, love to be proven wrong, so best continue with plan A and stick with my predictions as long as they continue to bring results. biggrin.gif

Less said about the Swedes the better.
Would hate to offend anyone, knowing what sensitive little souls you all are. laugh.gif

By the way is Zlatan not getting a bit past it for that ridiculous hair-do ? rolleyes.gif

Gary Lineker interviewed England manager Roy Hodgson, for the BBC, before the tournament. You could imagine Lineker wondering ‘Does Hodgson walk on water..? or is he just dead man walking..?’ unsure.gif

I agree with Jack Sprat: keep up the talk of England forwards-not-being-able-to-kick-their-way-out-of-a-paper-bag. In my old business, it used to be thought better to under-promise and over-deliver, rather than the other way round. wink.gif

Sweden almost got it right last night: but Shevchenko was just exceptional.

This was on the BBC website earlier:

The lightning pace that saw Shevchenko terrorise defences during his first spell with Dynamo Kiev and in a free-scoring career with AC Milan in Italy may be gone as a result of age and a succession of injuries, but his mind remains sharp.”

From this, you’d have thought Shevchenko was some elderly man with a walking stick laugh.gif

Sweden were crap last night! Only positive is that they can't play much worse.
Ukraine and France to the next stage?

One teams flop other teams hero.

That's football.
The fact that Roman signed him without Joses approval didn't help, but it must be said he was given a fair chance and just never cut the mustard in the Prem. when he should have been at his peak.
Fair dos at 35 he still has a sharp eye for a half chance around the box, though I doubt if he'll have the legs to run for 90 mins or play too many games close together.

Tudor Arms is the place to be. Tables and TVs outside in the street. Well mannered (adults) Swedish and English fans all together.

England will go on to win Euro 2012. If we beat Sweden then we knock them out. There is no mathematical way for Sweden to stay in if we beat them. Sorry Sweden, close the door on the way out will you, we don't want a draft.
