I have been living in The Netherlands for 5 years, but I hate everything about it, a lot of people are stupid and not to be trusted, they have so many masks, the language is like a mock up of German, English and French, but it sounds like you have a diarrhea.

Ofcourse they are so racist, they don't even want to see whether you are a hard worker or just living on tax payers account, to them immigrant is immigrant.

I have been to Sweden in 2007, I have to tell you, I LOVED that country, loved the space, the way people look, the language is so nice to hear, I have been learning Swedish since then, slowly though biggrin.gif

And since my visit I have been thinking about moving there, now I read few posts and lots of comments, I'm hesitating, it sounds like its all the same.

BTW.. I come from Israel, and would like to go back there if I didn't have a kid with my Dutch ex, so the whole idea to stay as close to my kid as possible, but I'm afraid that This Holland thing is getting me deeper and deeper in depression.

What do you think guys?

No big difference here in Sweden than what you wrote about Netherlands, unfortunately. But, i always suggest to friends if u have to make any decision like as u said, then spend sometime (1-2 years) in that country and then make decision, if possible.

Racism exists everywhere, and it is always harder for immigrants as a result. People in general tend to favour those they consider more similar to themselves, it's just human nature. The only way you can expect an easy ride is if you have sufficient money to be attractive to people as an investor or an employer. The chances for you to get a good job here are small, it's not a good time right now, as I'm sure you are aware. Even with a good level of Swedish you may struggle to find something worth making the move for.

No country is Utopia. You have to make your own Utopia.

Every country has the same old rubbish to one extent or another.

On a global scale there is not that much difference between the Dutch and the Swedes.

My advise is to stay close to your kid

I lived in Holland for 6 years.

Unless you have your own business, you will find that it will be harder to find work here than in Holland.

BTW Dutch is a form of PlatDeutch - a regional German dialect with no French. I find it OK - the ch sound is just like in Welsh cool.gif

I share feelings of NL, being from NL. But Swedes are even more racist, although this whole 'PVV/Geer Wilders' thing going on is stupid. I think the problem with NL is that there are too many people on small space and everyone (stupid or not) is trying to have his or her say. NL is over-organized, stressed, too much consensus-based.

If you have a kid in Holland you should stay like one block a way, and not in Sweden. If your ex. suddenly decides to move to the city Manaus in the Amazon rain-forest, you follow and live one block away. Whatever problem you have in Holland you should deal with over there, no point of moving here. The problems will follow you. Good luck.

Its good I came across this forum and posted my question, its becoming more and more clear to me that its not a good idea, unless ofcourse "As someone just mentioned" you have money to run business, which is not the case. So I will be stuck here for few more years till my kid is bigger and then I will go back to my country.
One more thing, I noticed something else too, for example.. If you are from Norway and move to Germany or Sweden then it will be almost home, while if you are some asylum seeker from a third world country then hell will break lose.
So it also depends on where your coming from.

It also depends on your own attitude, and something tells me you should start working on that.

You just told us where you want to live - Israel - so go there. Anywhere else is not where you want to be and that will make you unhappy and in the end you will resent the child anyway.

I know what you think my friend, but I have gone through very bad experience with Dutch people, its so easy for them to stab you in the back, if they have business with you then you are so welcome and they wag their tails, if not then expect the worse all the time. I also gave a try after another, nothing more than trying to fully integrate, I spoke their language, respected their tradition, ignored the bad things, still wasn't enough. Its like you need to be 10 times better than the Dutch to be treated equally.
When I first moved here I met an older guy from Israel who lives here for almost 30 years, we had a chat one time and he said to me "I advice you not to try and make friendship with Dutch people because you will get disappointed all the time", at that time I laughed at him and didn't take him serious, now I know why he said what he said. And he even has a factory with almost all Dutch working for him, imagine the normal me?!
You don't know what I'm saying because you didn't go through what I went through, its psychologically exhausting, bad bad country, can't wait to get out.

I want to go back, but when my child is alittle bigger, till then I want to stay close to her, and that was the whole idea of moving to Sweden and see her once a while till she is older and then go back smile.gif

You married a dutch person and knocked her up, so they can't be all bad.
