I just don't understand the amount of Aioli and "creamy sauces" they put in the food. My stomach has been freaking out for 3 weeks. Me neither. I've been diagnosed lactose intolerant since I moved here. Thank God we're in the country with the highest dairy consumption (& therefore highest amount of lactose-intolerants) in the world. It's never a problem finding laktosfri stuff! The OP might want to use it anyway, to avoid the bad stomachs!! |

That was another big shock when I first got here was the amount of mayo and mayo based sauces/dip they put on things. I love räksallad, and potatissallad but they're 10x

I know Swedes don't eat potato salad every day. I get a bloated tummy at fests, kalas, weddings. The foods are always so creamy, mayonaise based, and heavy. I'm no where near lactose intolerant, I just got done with a month of LCHF. I think it's just the combo of starches and creams that feel like a brick in the stomach. I also learned that most Swedes don't eat hamburgers, pizza and kebab so often. It's just the younger generation. I was so shocked when I moved here at how much of those junk foods were consumed. But I found out that it's because I'm with a younger guy(my classmates all had men that were umm older) that I wasn't being exposed to some of the super traditonal eating styles as the rest of my friends. |

There is are great American restaurant in SoFo, Dollys Saloon & Steakhouse - American Sunday brunch (its not American but close to it). Mississippi inn - southern food jambalaya and so on. Cafe Sirap - only place i go to when i have cravings for American pancakes...yummy!
Then there is another places I've heard is good but never been to Houston Steakhouse. To get American grocery's try the regular food stores, but also try the English food store in Söderhallarna they have a lot of American food too. Its really small and expensive but just might just find what you are looking for! |

It depends where you live in Stockholm. Zofia at Beauty Center on Roslagsgatan does a great job and is very reasonable, I pay 700sek to get my roots done and a cut/style. Don't know if it would be considered "hip" because, for me, a good cut and color at a great price is all that matters.
