I think you should check your vitamin D level. The source of this Vitamin is mostly from the sun. When the Vitamin D level is low it causes depression. Ask the pharmacist or the dr.

Good question, I am curious to know too! You could always hop down to Copenhagen and visit Christiania.

I was just thinking about the vitamin D issue the other day, great thought icedearth! My Norwegian friend sent me this link, but I am sure there are plenty in english. These are solutions without having to see a doctor.

Alcohol, music and a good woman...a pal that will make you laugh, lacking that a good dog will do...sometimes.
Cheer up we all go through this, and it does go away! |

Hi...have a look at his link..http://altmedicine.about.com/od/healthconditionsatod/a/Depression1.htm
Iit lists some natural remedies...ie John's Wort...but like anything it can take a few weeks to make a difference and like any drug has its side effects and is for mild depression. If you have a more serious level of depression, then of course see a doctor. I'm one of those people who try to avoid putting any kind of medical drug in me if possible. If you want to get better without drugs, then the best way to make you feel better is to exercise. Swimming, running, tennis...anything that gets you going. Other options is to join Internations or Meetup to meet up with other people to share interests etc. Getting out (although it's very cold) is always good...some window shopping....cinema...basically anything to change the state of your mind and distracts you...so you're not sitting there thinking about stuff that gets you down. Whichever path you choose, good luck! |

Vitamin D, exercise, St. John's wort have been mentioned. Another herb (natural, no known side effects)that shows promise is Rhodiola Rosea.

Make an appointment with the doctor. Depression meds are not something that you can determine which, how much and the desired therapeutic levels or if they are needed at all. Quite frankly, I do not believe the trained licensed psychiatrists have a better than hit or miss record with depression medications. There are no silver bullets.
A doctor will listen to your saga, hopefully hit you in the head and tell you to grin and bear it or in the off chance send a recommendation for an appointment with a specialist. |
