Ok.
So my teacher for SAS B says that as part of all the reading I have to do, one of the books needs to be a Swedish classic. (i.e. out of copyright type of thing) Had a quick squizz at wiki and on the online libraries where you can down load books that are out of copyright. I have to read over 1200 pages in my 20 week course. So the equivalent of 3 novels (which I really just have no idea how I am going to actually do that in reality...) Problem is, they are just not my thing. So I really need help to find something that is not too long and that I can read and get it over and done with in a relatively quick time. Before anyone sounds off about trying harder, I already work full time and have a gazzillion work documents all in Swedish to read, so I am not being a slacker, but more of trying to manage what time I have a little more carefully. If possible I would love to find the Swedish equivalent of Sherlock Holmes or an Agatha Christie story. If that isn't possible, then something that I can just read as quickly and as painlessly as possible, HELP!!!!!!! |

Thanks for the suggestion. But the book needs to be really old so that it is out of copyright type of thing.
We can read whatever else we like in terms of novels, but one has to be an old classic by a well known Swedish writer. |

Our teacher was a bit kinder and let us do a genre of Swedish literature (including modern) so I did dekare and read the complete Wallander collection (at the time)
However what about an anlysis of classic children's fiction? Pippi? (I used to have a modern analysis from a magazine as Pippi as an ADHD child Emil? Nils Holgerssons resa? Something gritty by one of the proletarian authors about hardship _ Moa Martinsson? Something by Strindberg - Fröken Julie? (if you choose something well known you could also rent the movie |

"Kejsaren av Portugallien" is a pretty good story. Selma Lagerlöw. Also i like Din stund på Jorden av Vilhelm Moberg or "Rid inatt" by him also.

Thanks guys. I think after looking them up I am going to go with Nils resa. It looks very readable and even though it looks a little long, the language doesn't seem too tricky.
Thank you!!!! This is going to be a mammoth effort to try and finish everything I need to do for this course while working. I think by the summer I will either be a master a Swedish or my brain will be completely fried... |

What about the Vilhelm Moberg series: Utvandrarna, Invandrarna, Nybyggarna, Sista brevet till Sverige

I read Syndafloden by Marianne Fredriksson for my SAS B book. It meets the criteria and it's a real good read. I ended up reading more of her books because I very much enjoyed her view on life. Rode Orm by Frans Bengtsson is another fun read which should also meet your course criteria.
