1. Here are plenty of links to sites with jobs:

http://www.arbetsformedlingen.se/For-arbet...jobbsajter.html

For example there's Jobsinstockholm..for english-speaking..

2. Go to Recruitment meetings if you want to...I'm not sure if/how much language skills you need for the different jobs..

http://www.arbetsformedlingen.se/For-arbet...ringstr%C3%A4ff

(If you live in Stockholm...this is for AMS in the central parts of Stockholm)

Recruiters etc are looking for drivers, people within finance & accounting, people within the restaurant business, salesmen etc. What's good about these meetings is that you basically have to bring your CV, you could go to the AMS that is listed and just meet different recruiters and talk about who you are and what you want to do. So it's kind of like a small interview.

3. Apply for the jobs as soon as they get out! It increases your chances.
4. Spend quality time on working on your personal letter.
5. Try having a CV with you when you're out walking, you might find a place where you really wanna work, it doesn't hurt to ask, you will likely get no in most cases, but it's not completely impossible.

Here are a few ideas:

1. Buy and sell on Blocket, etc. It sounds crazy I know, but you can make quite a bit this way, easily 5.000, and possibly 10.000+ if you have big ticket items. How is this possible? It's a simple concept. Buy something from Blocket for 3000, sell it for 3300 - 4000. You'll be able to judge what you can make from an item once you get used to it. Usually it's best to keep margins thin to begin with.

2. Odesk.com - there are tons of jobs there and they tend to be more reliable than the competition such as elance, guru, etc. It'll take a while before you build up a decent enough portfolio to be seen as a multi-star provider, but once you are, you will have no problem gaining clients and earning up to around $50 / hour depending on you speciality. The work isn't guaranteed to stack up to 40 hours per week, but once you have a good portfolio and reviews you should get enough to earn at least 60% of a normal Swedish salary, if not more, depending on work type and how many hours you are willing to put in. It's more geared towards IT and programming, but they also have admin, writing, graphics, marketing, etc positions.

3. Start a security company online. This is an oldie but still a goodie. Most security tools are what they call "open source". In a nutshell this means they are free and you can modify them. Download various wireless (and if you are feeling brave, other) security tools and read the documentation and look up examples online. Next, dowload python or perl or ruby or whatever tickles your fancy. If you don't know them already, learn one. Write a web interface and a script to glue the tools together. This can be done by using the script to pass parameters to the tools you downloaded earlier. This one will admittedly take some technical know-how, but since everything mentioned is free, anyone with determination can learn and set up such a system. Charge to download, or use google ads or similar. Profit.

These all work - and they are in order of potential cash. There are no hidden traps here, all of these techniques WILL earn you money, but youhave to put the effort in. If you do choose to do one of these (or all), make sure you still keep up with learning swedish and try to find a normal job, even if you feel that you are making enough, there are many benefits to being formally employed on the social and benefits side.

Also, when searching for work, don't just send and hope, travel around and visit companies in person with copies of you CV. Be polite, amiable, friendly, but not outspoken or too friendly, as people here don't seem to like that, it's not like the UK where you can just start bantering with someone you just met. But if you keep a low but open profile, it will help a lot.

Great thread btw Stebro. Much more constructive than the "sfi sucks and I can't find a jobb" ones. Good on you.

These sound as very good ideas for someone with a part-time job or something similar, to supplement your regular income. I will most likely start working nights at a hotel, having a few hours of free time so I plan to take a look at these. Any other tips or ideas to supplement income would be nice.
