As everyone knows alcohol is expensive here, but what are your favorites at Systembolaget if your going for cheap and good?
If I want something dark and strong (which I typically prefer) but still with a good flavor I usually go with Mariestads Old Ox 6,9 ABV (in the bottle to avoid the pant) at 16,90 :- 50cl For strong beer with a light taste I usually go with the Prips Blå Extra stark 7,2 ABV in can at 13,10:- if its time to party (doesn't taste the best, but after the first one it gets better) , but for casual drinking (taste much better than ES) I prefer the Export 5.0 ABV at 11,60 :- 50cl Not really an IPA fan, but I think the Brutal Brewing Summer Edition 4,5 ABV at 7,9:- in the 33cl can is a steal, and great to just throw in a backpack and go anywhere. Christmas beer I have to admit this year I tried the Three Hearts Julöl 5,3 ABV at 15,00 and thought it easy to drink with that traditional christmas beer flavor. Grebbestad 5,2 ABV is an old favorite at 20,50:- 50cl but a little more on the expensive side. I try to keep a pretty tight APK (alcohol per kronor) figure, but at time am willing to spend a little more for marginal improvement. What are your favorites? Maybe I am missing out on something good? Thoughts? |

Samuel Adams Utopias (2010) was good, but it sold out. Waiting for the 2012 edition to arrive in the shop again.
Did you mean cheap in absolute or relative terms? ~~~PDX~~~ |

Just talk to the alcoholics who hang out somewhere near your Local Systembolaget, pretty much all stores have them and they usually hang around during opening hours. These Guys (and girls) will be able to tell you exactly which beers to buy to get the most alcohol for your money.

IMO if you pay about 50% more than the cheapest prices you can find beers that are several times better.
A few decent beers under 25 kr: Modus Hoperandi St. Bernardus Tripel Duvel Orval Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout Anchor Steam Sierra Nevada Pale Ale Liberty Ale as8 |
