I would like to move to Stockholm to be with my boyfriend. I have been looking for positions teaching English(even part time positions) but haven't found any that give a work permit to live in Sweden(It was silly to expect this when there are so many native speakers living there) but I can get a sambo visa through my boyfriend and THEN get a job, although that is a lot more scary.
So, this is my situation: 1. Native English speaker from Canada. 2.. I have barely intermediate level Swedish. In reading, writing and listening maybe JUST the intermediate level. Speaking lags behind, though perhaps it would pick up if I were in Sweden rather than learning the language abroad. This lack of Swedish knowledge cuts out most jobs for me. 3. I have a bachelors degree in humanities. My specialization was Russian language. I am at the advanced level with this language and have lived in Russia for 3 years but I am not fluent(again, all skills are higher than speaking). 4. I have two years of English language teaching experience in Russia to adults and children. General English as well as Business English. 5. I have a TESOL(teaching English to speakers of other languages) certificate, but sadly not a degree in Education.(that cuts out a lot of jobs too) What do you think my chances are, if I move to Sweden, of getting a job teaching English? Anyone have any advice? |
