The music streaming business is getting quite crowded and it does not help with the high revenues which need to be paid to the recording agencies.
I am a bit curious with your headline about Spotify profits. Spotify has been in the red ever since it started up. So dunno where you got the news about profits. Nokia, Microsoft, Rdio, Deezer, Rara are just other competitors in this market plus expect Apple and Sony to step up as well. What you forget is the record companies actually own 16-18% of equity in Spotify. The Verge article actually states that all parties want Spotify to grow further. So I expect Spotify to grow further. |
