Hi. I lived in stockholm 12 years ago and Iv'e just been offered a job to return to stockholm full time. for a full time job on average 44 hours per week iv@e been offered 23000 krona which I think works out to around 16000 krona after tax etc. what I need to know isthis a wage that someone can live on in stockholm with day to day living including renting a appartment (single guy so one bedroom any idea of the going rate )? the job is on Ekero so I would be looking at living that side of town. I need to make a desisssion in the next couple of days so any advice would be great, thanks for taking a look. Scott in the UK

You will get around 18,000kr after tax
This is enough to live on - many live on less - but obviously not a luxury lifestyle Accomodation will be the biggest headache owing to the housing shortage in Stockholm |

Hi Scott!
Depending on where on Ekerö you are going to work, you dont _have_ to live on that side of town. You should check out the ferry between Slagsta and Jungfrusund. I am rather sure that it would be way easier to get some place to stay in Flemmingsberg / Skärholmen / Bredäng and take the ferry every day to work, than get accomodation in Bromma or on Ekerö. Perhaps its a start to establish yourself without losing it all on the cost of living? Get a good bicycle and bike to work perhaps? http://nejtackjagidrottar.files.wordpress...ing20080822.png |

That tunnel there between Ekerö and Vårby, is it open to and safe for cyclists? I did almost exactly half this route to Ekerö last week but then turned back since I was not sure if I can continue.. ~~~PDX~~~ |

Oh and just to add to that. Sometimes in life it's really not the amount your earning or what type of car mummy &daddy bought you when they finished paying for you to go to uni. Or if you wear a suit from harvey nicholls or T K Maxx it's more waking up in the morning with a smile of contentment on your face that's important !!

... (show full quote)
Who says mommy and daddy bought you a nice car or payed for uni, why couldnt you be a kid that worked a full time job through high school in construction to earn enough to buy an old beater mustang and put enough money away to get your way through a top university with your own savings plus a scholorship. Doing all that, why couldnt said person have started a nightclub at 24 with money he managed to put away through university working summers running a house painting business making good money. At 27 why couldnt that guy have become a millionare, having done it all himself, bet he wakes up with a smile on his face to. |

Because people that work there way up from the bottom without the help of others wouldn't come out with a comment like " x ammount isn't alot for a full time job " would you say it ? I don't think you would if you have had the hard earned sucsess that you mention. well done you deserve it by the sounds of it !
