(edit title) Got my RP but it starts from 4 days ago. Where does my application period go? Options

I applied for my work permit before my student permit expired. So for the last 4.5 months I had no permit as such as I was waiting for a decision. I finally got my work permit (well a letter from migration board but it starts from the day it was processed (Nov 23)

I was under the impression that I would get a residence permit from the stated application date.

This will bite me when 2 years down the line I want a non-employee specific work permit and 4 years down the line when I would apply for PUT. Both of them would be considered from end of November instead of 1st of July (assuming that I should be getting a permit for the time I have spent here)

Its the same for everyone. Its from the date the decision was made.

I believe the clock will start from the time you submitted the application not the time it was granted. Should be on the migrationsverket website.

I was in the same situation. There is no problem at all with that. In worst case, you can always demand them to check their database on date(s) when you had applied.
