Hello All,
I was wondering, is it legal to use a child harness/leash (that attaches from the parent's wrist to the child's wrist) to prevent a toddler from running into traffic etc? Thanks

Yes i think that´s legal, why not? Holding hands? I know children very good at getting out off your grip but maybe it will look odd to keep a child (only) on leash, implying a distance in attitude. Harness on torso sounds more regular (and safer) and is used with large groups of children. Handholding but with leash as safety sounds good. In Pram or Stroller with toddler a safety harness is an good idea, saved my daughter once from being thrown out headfirst to stone floor, my fault. Safety strap for stroller like this " undefined "or " safety strap"is a good idea going downhill or at busstops, railways and underground7metro/subway or just in city. Gooogle "safety strap" and read http://www.strollersdirect.com/stroller-safety-tips.htm, safety for chldren is, mildly put, acceptable in Sweden.

Thank you for your reply. I was worried that Swedish people might look at me as if I think my son is an animal on a leash, (which is the last thing from my mind). He is a very active toddler and I have had some recent injuries which leave me unable to chase him if he runs out into traffic. I also am unable to swim and concerned if my son decides to suddenly jump into the lake in the centrum area of our town. Perhaps a harness restraint is best. Is a harness restraint used during trips with public preschools in Sweden or are the children old enough to not be such a risk of running into traffic by preschool age?

Pre-schools tend not to though as it would be dangerous with multiple harnesses in the same place - children who are unreliable usually sit in the pushchair or walk with the teacher

Thank you both very much for your replies. I feel more comfortable with using a harness for my son's safety now.
