Missed delivery of package

Hi, I got a package sent to me from the UK using Royal Mail Airsure service. I tracked my package online and it says that posten tried to deliver it today and it looks like it has been sent back to the delivery office. It says on the tracking that it is 'express service'. However no note was put through my letterbox. Do you know if they will try and redeliver or do I have to go and collect it? However I dont have any collection note in order to collect....

Usually it takes 24 hours to get the note - it is not produced until the package arrives back at the sorting station/collection point

If you know where it is likely to be you can go in tomorrow and ask if they are open - otherwise you should get a card in the post on Monday

Thanks for the reply! Just tracked it and it now says 'The item has been redirected within Posten to a sorting terminal'. Looks like they might try and redeliver, which is no god because I'll be at work. I dont want the package to end up getting sent back to the UK!!!

As Puffin says just head in to the post office with your tracking number and some ID.

My experience is that it often shows up on the tracking that a delivery attempt has been made even though there has been somebody at home all day and no delivery attempt has been made. Not sure why that is but I will be charitable and say it is down to a quirk in Posten's computer system.

Only yesterday I had a similar situation, I had ordered winter tyres from Germany and went in on chance to the sorting office with the tracking number. "Oh great that you came in, the Postman didn't have room in his van for them" when I look at the tracking info now it says "delivery attempt" on Thursday and then "delivered" for Friday morning when I picked them up, I never got any note either...

The post office isn't open today, so if the delivery or collection note doesn't show up on monday I will go to the post office after work.
