It will be quite difficult, but possible to support a family on just a teacher's salary. Be prepared to live a very frugal life.

Your husband will need to learn to speak and write proper Swedish before anyone in Sweden will even think about hiring him.

I assume you are English moving to Sweden. If a Swede moved to England with very little English would he be able to get a job as a book keeper/management accountant?

It would be difficult to say if you could live on a teachers salary as it would depend on the salary, the number of hours worked, where you lived, how you lived, how big the family was and what you would expect to be a normal standard of living.

it would depend on what type of accounting he does, his experience etc. Potentially if he is good, he may get something from one of the big international companies Ernest & Young etc. before he learns Swedish or could he not work virtually from Sweden with a UK client base?

I am aware that he would not be able to work professionally without sufficient Swedish. I was referring to the possibility of ANY form of work just to supplement my income until his Swedish improved.

Thing is that your husband would be in competition with a huge amount of other non swedish speaking immigrants and refugees who are also searching for non professionall work. I`d say it will be very hard to find such work and be lucky enough to get some.

These forums have seen many similar questions regarding UK teachers being offered employment in bi-lingual schools in stockholm. Usually this is a form of cheap employment for the schools as most foreign teachers don't have swedish, thus they are not paid as a qualified teacher (you have to have a swedish language qualification to be eligible .... and then usually its to expensive for many schools to hire such) And from some of the families that have asked this in the past, I can't remember anyone that took up the job (with a family) as the pay wasn't enough.

As for jobs, think of it as being very hard.
even harder without swedish.

Basically wrong time, wrong place.

Why not have him build off of his background and use that as an expertise for a Swedish firm wanting to do business in his home country? If you can market that as a specialty you can possibly get hired at a premium.
