Hi My name is Yasir, i know there has been some discussion about the visa extension but my case is a little complicated..kindly help me..
I have studying in Sweden as an Exchange student for a year, and now my studies are completed, and my visa is also going to expire very soon, but i have got a Thesis work in a company here which i have started, and now i am confused that how can i extend my visa here, I am not sure whether i can for a visa extension here, because i cant apply for work permit on the basis of a Thesis work because they are not giving me a lot of money.. so i need some suggestions what should i do in this case for the visa extenstion...any help is highly appreciated ... |

Are you saying your study + thesis are finished (i.e. you already got the degree), but the company want you to continue with them, but paying you the "thesis" rate?
I think you need 13000kr per month to apply for work permit. If you haven't finished your study, then you can apply student visa extension. If you have finished then, of course, you can't do that. |

Even for exchange students, visa extension can be applied when you are in Sweden, and as your University (and the thesis supervisor ) knows that you did not compelte the thesis ( and most probably the university knows your situation) you can get a letter from the supervisor, with an explanation for the extension of visa. Apply electronically with the progress report (or transcripts), explanation letter from the supervisor, and proofs of cost of living (its around 8,000 SEK per month as I remember). The cost of living can be proved by bank statements (or a letter of an appointment from the thesis sponsor)

Not sure whether your studies are completed or not - in Sweden studies includes thesis writing and not just the taught courses
Migrationsverket will look at Have you passed the right amount of course points each year? You will need a printout Do you have money to support yourself (same as before) or a paid internship? Is the thesis a part of your degree? is there a letter from your supervisor? |

According to MSVT the longest allowable period for a residence permit for exchange studies is 1 year.
Perhaps you can apply for a regular student permit ... |
