Shipping "light" stuff from UK to Sweden

Best / cheapest way?

Hej!

I'm planning a move to Sweden (specifically Gothenburg) from the UK this summer and, whilst I have no proper furniture beyond an iMac, the stuff I plan to cart over will probably take up more than two 15kg suitcases + two 10kg suitcases. I have some books and winter / ski clothing, for instance, that weigh a little bit and would probably be best sent over via courier.

I've looked into ParcelForce, and they charge around £60 for a single standard box parcel weighing up to 10kg. I've looked into other shipping methods but they tend to entail renting a container and I don't have a container's worth (though I would like to bring my bike over, the bike is only worth £150!). Essentially I am travelling 'light'...but not that light...

How did other UK expats manage the move? Particularly those of you who didn't have THAT much to ship over, but more than could be managed via flying? I have a limited budget as this is a speculative move; i.e. if it all went Pete Tong, I could ship things back without spending too much. If after a year or so I am fully settled in, I will probably look into more costly shipping methods.

Thanks for any help!

Hi when I moved from the UK I used DHL who charged £25 for a 20kg box, it took a week for the boxes to arrive in Sweden.

Check quotes from these sites, you'll find them much cheaper than booking directly with Parcel force or the other courier companies.

Thanks guys! I thought DHL were really expensive (tried to use them to ship stuff from Austria and they quoted me £200 ohmy.gif ) but clearly I am wrong...

for stuff that couriers won't take (many say they won't take suitcases in the small print, don't ask me why...) then this is the only company I could find will to take small loads www.express-nordic.com, although I have not used them myself, but I dare say I will in the future as I travel light also and proper removal companies don't wanna know.
