Hi everyone, long time no speak blink.gif

Anyway, I would love to hear from anyone who has experienced delays with their permit extension.

My 2 year time limited residence permit expired on 12 April. We had some problems getting the personbevis from Skatteverket so I did not end up sending in my application until about 10 days before the permit expired. Now it's been 4 weeks and it's still not received on their system. When I called them they said it normally takes a couple of weeks after they receive it to get onto the system, but that it's been nearly 4 weeks is a bit unusual and gave me a number to call at the office in Uppsala. Of course...they don't answer.

So what now? Should I go down there and stamp my feet or should I do a new application and take it in explaining what has happened? Should I wait a bit longer and hope they are just delayed? They are only open from 12-15 Mon-Wed and I work during those hours on those days so going down there will mean I have to take time off work.

Appreciate your advice.

do you mean your application for PUT from a 2 year UT ?

If that is the case have you paid the avgift ? I don;t think they process anything without the avgirt being paid.

If you can't get down there to talk to your case officer than surely they have to answer the phone at designated time so ring then. I remember ringing bang on whatever the opening time was and just staying hold till I got someone.

The fact that you got your application in before your UT expired is a good thing and it's probably just jammed in the system but i would have greater peace of mind if I had a receipt for the avgift.

I am also waiting for my PUT, my 2 year UT Expired in January this year. I have not been assigned a case officer yet as they say there's a huge back log. They are currently working on Sep/Oct 2011 applications. Be prepared to wait.

GZee that's good to know, is that from the Uppsala office? I'm fine with waiting, I'm only worried because my application doesn't show up as received in the system.

Then I think you can afford to relax and wait for it to get thru the system. Just one more year and you can get citizenship wink.gif That doesnt take nearly as long as PUT smile.gif

I believe all applications go through Norrkoping no matter where you live.

Given that the period included Easter when offices closed for several days many staff were likely on holiday I would give it another week or so

Are you checking online with the "case number"? The number you get while handing in and paying is not it. To get your case number you need to call them and ask. If you do that ask for your case officer's name and phone number as well, for future reference.

If you read my OP again you will see that I have called them and yes, I have my case number.

Hehehe oh I don't trust them that much! I went there and waited in queue for nearly 2 hours, they have lost my application but now they are going to go looking for it.

Just to update, on Monday I went to Migrationsverket and spoke with them. They agreed that it was a problem, that it should have been registered within a week of being received but that they had had some other complaints and would put a note on file and she would look for it.

I have been checking the website every day and today it was listed as registered.

It pays to be nice to the people working there and to go in and check if you think there is a problem.

I live in Stockholm. Where do you hand in PUT extension applications? Solna?

Also, I plan to travel this September and will be back on the 27th. My extension expires on October 8. Is that sufficient time enough to process the extension?

Thanks! smile.gif
