Hi,
I am wondering, once you submit your application for Swedish citizenship, and then request to get your passport back, is it possible to go and live in another country for work reasons (say you get a job in Europe or even outside Europe) and then let migrationsverket do their lengthy process and inform you whenever a decision is made? Or that you actually are REQUIRED to stay in Sweden and wait? Cause as far as I know you only have to live here to fill the time requirement BEFORE applying for citizenship, and once the time has arrived you're not obliged to live in Sweden. What's your opinion about that guys? |

If You have PUT and become a resident in another country Migrationsverket will revoke Your Swedish PUT.
It can take up to a year to get a citizenzhip decision they re-check the requirements at the final decision making time, risk is that you are a resident in another country, so it will be rejected. You can travel for up to 1 year without losing the PUT, but again to get work in any other country (apart from travel with your current swedish employer) would require a work/residency permit in that other country = losing Swedish PUT. If Your PUT is revoked, you may get it back by re-applying, but it depends upon how long You were outside of Sweden as to if you get PUT back, or must wait another few years again! |

Aside from living in Sweden until the decision is made one must remember that one may be granted citizenship. In Sweden obtaining citizenship via naturalisation is not an absolute right!
You can be rejected for any reasons that do not amount to or an expection not to in the future amount to an honourable lifestyle. That includes having an current outstanding debt! |
