Hello Everyone~! I will move to Stockholm area from Los Angeles, California for job.
It might be around July to August 2012...
I will bring all furnitures, and appliances to Sweden. It should be one bedroom size...
I gladly want to hear good moving company recommendation who moved from United States...

when you say "appliances" what do you mean ?

Do you know that all apartments come with fridge and freezer and that there is a communal laundry with washers and dryers FOC in each building ?

Hey there. I moved from New Jersey to Gothenburg, so it was much easier logistically, but it wasn't difficult. Are you staying permanently? You may want to consider storing/selling/giving away your appliances. They won't work here without large converters which usually buzz and take up a lot of space. Major appliances come furnished in apartments. You may also find it easier to sell/store your furniture and buy stuff from IKEA or the like when you get here.

I used LTV. They have HORRIBLE reviews, but they were super cheap and I didn't consider the things I was moving to be of that great a value. I spoke to them before deciding about their bad reviews and they were very encouraging. I paid to pack my own stuff, drive it to the port in Elizabeth, NJ and pick it up in Gothenburg. I had a full pallet of 16 boxes and a new bicycle in a box that all shipped for around $500. No one else was under $1000. I dropped it off on May 3rd and it was in Gothenburg May 23, I think. Of course, they didn't mention all the fees I would have to pay to get it cleared through customs, but that's another story. Though I had requested port to port service, the contract they sent me said that my items would be cleared through customs by their people. When I called them after being told that I needed to pay someone to clear it, they said it was just a clerical error in the contract and they wouldn't do it. I didn't pay for it, so I didn't have any right to bitch. I just assumed it was part of the plan.

Assuming you do not own valuable antiques but standard disposable junk, this idea is about as good as the Altima one .

Appliances means LCD TV, computer&monitor, Vaccum, Mixer, Lamp...
Not refrigerator, laundry and washer, dish washer...
and furniture is... bed, desk, chair, sofa, TV stand, drawer
and other packed clothes box, 2 bicycle, miscellaneous... That's all I want to bring to Sweden

What appliances as things like television will not work here. Again like shipping a car in your other post is it really worth it. It is a hassle and will cost you in the neighborhood of 5000 USD. Sweden has everything needed here and very cheap if second hand or reasonably priced if new.. Good luck.

tv will not work all other appliances not same voltage. Why in the world would you ship a sofa at a cost of many hundreds of dollars or even a thousand half way around the world. I will garantee all these items new will cost less than shipping.

Sofa and bed is kind of some expensive one, so my wife want to bring those to Sweden.
Those are wedding gift, so really hard to sell ...

I will consider to sell LCD TV, Vaccum, Mixer like as work with motor or different voltage...
I heard that buying stuffs is expensive than US, because of high tax in Sweden... that is the reason why we want to bring all to Sweden, also my work support relocation cost up to 25000 SEK... Always appreciates all your answer, those are really helpful to understand...

and don't forget that you'll need heavy-duty converters for the 110>220 electrical difference. i wouldn't bring any electrical appliances if i were you.

Vaccum, Mixer - Not a good idea to bring anything with a motor as the current is twice as strong and they would cost more to ship than buy new
Lamp - would require a converter unless you want to blow bulb after bulb. Again, it would be much cheaper to buy new than ship.
bed - understandable if you are attached to it, but it will cost hundreds to ship. Possibly more.
desk, chair, sofa, TV stand - All cheaper to buy at IKEA than ship
drawer - unless it's an antique or has sentimental value, it's cheaper to buy when you get here
Just bring: other packed clothes box, 2 bicycle, miscellaneous. You'll save time, money and headache.

If you company is paying that is a totally different matter. Sounds like the bed is full of good memories if wife wants to keep it Good luck.

I got too much dilemma now... relocation support cost is just 25000 SEK, so this is not enough to buy stuffs in Sweden instead of my stuffs in US... I'm not sure to purchase from the second hands in Sweden, because we might be not satisfied with quality, price and expectations about second hands...

I understand. I was in your shoes, only I was coming to live with my fiancee. I ended up heeding the advice here and sold or gave everything away. I do have a beautiful iron bed that my dad made for me that I would love to have here, but it just wasn't worth the cost of shipping that monstrosity from Tennessee. When I hit the lotto, I will be shipping it over. lol
