Hi Everyone im 25 from Nigeria and have family living in the UK but i'm the adventurous kind and after doing some research i've fallen in love with sweden .I dont like my country as there are a lot of indiscipined and corrupt people here and i always feel so out of place here as i was raised differently but a lot of people from my country are very dishonest so generally most people dont trust Nigerians and its so infruriating.Anyways I have a couple of IT certifications cisco (CCNA ndCCNP) and microsoft (MCITP) and i have a BSc in Physics (i hate physics).I love european music generally and most people here think im weird and call me white lol so i always feel different and im looking at moving to sweden and go see the swedish house mafia

So you have no family, friends or other social ties to the country? You have never visited or been there on vacation? You have no first hand experience about the culture, history, norms, language or society except for the music? Well I can tell you that is hard enough to move from one country to another but it`s a whole other situation when one is in your shoes. You sure are making things alot harder for you. I`m just telling you this so you are aware that things might not be easy.
When it comes to Swedish House Mafia then you are out of luck. They are breaking up and have their final show in Stockholm during november and it`s sold out. Otherwise I guess that could be a good time to visit and see if you like the cold. |

Yeah but then if i had visited before that would kill the whole point of the adventure.Basically i want to go and live somewhere where i have no family ties maybe i should try to make some friends before i make the final decision so if you know where i can make friends i'd be really grateful

If you want to live alone and away from your family, you are doing that right now in UK. aren't you?
If you want to live in Sweden anyway then do you have valid permit to get in here? If so, then it is quiet OK. Coming to job in Sweden, it is like hiking Everest two times I am sure your decision is not wise unless you have none here to help you for accommodation or job hunting support? Think more and ask more! |

Before settling down in any country I would visit the place first and get first hand experience of how life is there. An alternative is to try and study there for a year or so. I`d also work on befriending the locals and build a social network. A job offer beforehand would also be nice.
I know that it sounds like an exciting adventure to just up and leave for a totally different country but it`s going to be hard. If you don`t have that in mind you will surely turn you bitter. |

The first thing I can say about finding jobs in Sweden or in most places in the non-english speaking parts of Europe is 'network'.
It took me a long time to realize that but the recruitment process relies heavily on one's references/personal contacts. Even in IT or Engineering, ones that I assume you are interested in. Try and build a network, since there are quite a few Nigerians in Sweden you could find it easiest to start with Facebook, G+ or Orkut groups. |

...Networking helps, but don't forget that within the Youth, and I count the OP at the top end of the Youth range, there is in general approx. 25% unemployment, and even higher if you only count us immigrants.
Unfortunately this is not even attributable to the current financial problems within EU, it has been a growing problem within Sweden for the last decade and more... Since You have relatives in the UK, that could indeed be the starting point of Your entry into the EU zone, and then boldly move on after that initial stay. (I got the impression you are not in the UK, but your family is?) |
