Hello, I am also in the process of moving to Sweden on a work placement for five years and I will be needing to buy a new car. Does anyone know if there are Internet Car Brokers in Sweden (as in the UK where they will arrange the purchase on your behalf with an actual dealer, but at a greatly discounted price)? Thank you.

Never heard of such a service here to be honest.Not sure what you mean by it either? Why would dealers sell to a broker at a heavily discounted price?

I would imagine you need a personal number to own a car and arrange insurance?

I also have never heard of such a broker, if the existed then everybody would use them and there would no dealers left! (i've never hard of this service in England either)

I am familiar with car brokers in the UK but unfortunately they do not exist here in Sweden (to the best of my knowledge at least, but I would love to be proven wrong).

The way the new car sales structure works in the UK is that dealers are heavily incentivised to hit sales targets per .month, quarter or year so in many cases it is worth a dealers while to sell a large number of cars at cost price as he knows that by hitting his next target he will get a percentage rebate on all his sales.

Also many dealers have new cars in stock on a "stocking loan" from the distributors this lets them have the car FOC for a number of weeks after which time they must pay a percentage of the cost of the car, at that stage they want to offload the car as quickly as possible.

Many of these sales take place through brokers. Of course the drawback of buying through a broker is that they don't take trade ins and you may have to travel a considerable distance to pick up your car.
