As a student, perhaps not a lot. Be patient, one day in the future you will find something impossible to obtain without it. It means you exist to all the institutions, is needed for most meaningful real life transactions in Sweden, and in a nutshell, you cant lead a proper life without it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_iden...number_(Sweden)

Your date might ask you what your personnummer is to make conversation.

And with that 1 little piece of information they not only find your exact birthday, but also can go and check your credit history, income, taxes paid or not, if you have debts at Kronofogden ... it certainly is not an innocent idle question

But don't I get notified if somebody does those kinds of checks on me? Or can it be done incognito? Pray tell...
With sites like ratsit they need only my name. Or, in my case, my first name and where I live. My name is not so common in Sweden. |
