You need to speak Swedish for any job that involves dealing with Swedes like a truck driver.
For massage work Thai would be helpful and being a beautiful woman |

What is your background? What experience? qualification? nationality? Do you already have residence?
Most jobs dealing with the public are going to require you to speak at least basic Swedish and be able to read written documents and communicate in job related terminology unless you have very special skills or experience or work in a field/company where english is widely spoken such as IT However with all things most employers want employees who are not creating additional costs to their businesses so most haulage/delivery companies will want qualified drivers who speak some Swedish |

Do you have training as a truck driver? License? Experience?
And yes, being able to at least communicate in Swedish would be a clear requirement for Health and Safety reasons etc... |

At least here in norrland truckers are in high demand. And in many of the trucking routes you dont even meet anyone so i dont think the language is an issue

Being a trucking driving massage therapist, you might have the market cornered.

Yes you can. There are many truck drivers who do not speak swedish and work here. That is not the biggest issue.
When did you take your CE license? Was this before 10th Sept 2009? If it was after this then you will need to complete 140 hours training course called YKB Yrkeskompetensbrevis. This costs around 18,000SEK. If before this then you need to do the 35hour version every 5 years. This is all done in swedish so it will be a problem eventually. |

North of the border, so to speak. That is of course where the massaged truckers go.

... especially in Norrland LOL!! I was wondering why we had so many truck stops up here, now I know. @the OP: As far as I can see, much of the trucking traffic up here is forestry based. Maybe try to contact one of the large forestry companies and see what they say? |

Also - ascertain what kind of truck you want to drive. There are the 18-wheelers, and there are the fork lift variety. Two vastly different types, requiring very different skills. Beware how you express yourself, so that you get the right kind of truck to drive, and the right licence. Truckförare would put you in the fork lift branch.

Reminds me of my old boss. He owns a large civils company back in the UK and was crazy as batpoo. We used to take on Summer students every year to get site experience etc... One lad turned up with his dad at the office looking for work. He was real little git with an attitude. My boss asked him what he would like to do and he replied that he 'wouldn't mind driving something' as he heard that we had a large fleet of A40's A25's and tracked excavators etc... The boss says to him to come back early in the morning and that we would start him driving first thing.
The young guys came back (late) the next morning and the the boss hands him a hammer and a bag of rusty nails and told him that he could practice driving the nails into a lump of oak he had int he back yard. Needless to say that was the last we saw of him |

Having in the past driven HGV in and out of the docks in Gbg, you WILL need Swedish when dealing with dock workers, or else be very good in communicating by sign language. The dock workers are great guys, and are very helpful, but you MUST be able to communicate with them. Away from the docks, you should have little problem. If you have all the qualifications as the other guys here have pointed out, you can follow the road signs etc, then I wish you well. Truck-driving here in Sweden is, or can be, a great life. I was involved in container traffic, and drove a LAGAB container lift unit, so once out of the dock area I was often on my own completely, and although there was a time pressure now and then, I only gave it up when health problems took over.
I wish you luck, and many miles of safe driving. |
