You can get print off a personal bevis from the Skatteverket website if you have e-ID, which you might have got with your bank account. Even quicker.
As for the right of residence (stop calling it a residence ID - it's not one and you're only confusing people), it will more than likely take months for Migrationsverket to reply saying that they are acknowledging your right to live here. |

Smartass fuckers dont get any apologies from me I'm afraid. I'm most grateful for all the help I got from everyone else though.. Thanks for everything ..Am I missing something? gplusa said pick up the phone, did he not? And in the end, the thing that sorted it was...picking up the phone. You're not going to make many friends on TL if you slag off people who offer sensible (and obvious to the rest of us except maybe you) advice.... |

Apologies for calling it the wrong name. The lady in the tax office said it was called a residents ID.
I was able to open a bank account before I got the residents ID/ bevis/ permit because I knew someone in the bank. I remember him explaining something about this E -ID. Do you have a link to access it? Regards, Keggers |

Something you'll quickly learn is that no one in state agencies knows what they're talking about!
The two basic residency options are "Right of Residence" (Uppehållsrätt) which EU citizens are entitled to, once they satisfy certain conditions: that they are either working, studying, have some income or have a business. This is the basis on which you are in Sweden. For it, all you need to do is notify Migrationsverket that you are resident in Sweden within 3 months of arriving which you appear to have done. You should get a letter back saying that MV have confirmed it over the next few months. For non-EU citizens or EU citizens who don't satisfy one of the 4 conditions above, their option is to apply for a Residence Permit (Uppehålltillstånd) - for EU citizens, they normally apply for this on the basis of having a family member here or that they are moving to live with their partner who is resident here. They will receive an actual ID card from MV after leaving their fingerprints and photograph to MV. You can read about e-legitimation here though that's just general information on what it is. It's really quite useful allowing you to access internet banking, applying you to digitally sign for certain things rather than signing a paper contract (meaning you can order things online much quicker etc) as well as accessing state agencies etc. ' Most banks will send you out an ID card along with a little card reader that resembles a calculator. If you were an AIB customer at home, you might have even had one before though AIB's was purely to access internet banking. Alternatively, you can apply for a Skatteverket ID card which has e-leg in it but then you need to apply to Telia for a card reader which will set you back 500kr or so. Banks, I think, normally give you the card and reader for free. I can say that Handelsbanken definitely does so. |
