Saw in todays SVD that the proposed simplification of rules for subletting bostadsrätt has been blocked by the opposition parties. I am in 2 minds about this personally, I can see that freeing up the market would certainly make it easier for people who are looking for somewhere to live however I do think that the Bostadrätt system has helped Sweden avoid the worst of the "buy to let" that has had such a dire effect in the UK.

At least the prices for renting would be relative to the areas desired.
While at present the only prices relative to the areas is set by the retail for those buying. Shouldn't a flat in central Stockholm cost more to rent than outside of Stockholm? Whereas this communistic style of lists, fairness and cardboard suitcases. Has led to a huge underworld of dirty handshakes and monies exchanged. In a way that defeats the original intentions of fairness. London has high rent, but also high demand. It's all relative. |
